Sharon School
How old is your school? Did you know that our school is having a birthday this year? It will be 50 years old! The Sharon School was designed and built in 1959. It was added on to in 1965. A kindergarten wing was added in 1989 and the newest addition, which houses third-grade classes, a media center and a gym, was completed in 2000. When Sharon School first opened it had nine classrooms, an all purpose room, a nurse's suite and administration offices. There were only 16 teachers and close to 400 students. Today, we have 50 classrooms, almost 100 staff members and about 900 students! We have really grown. Sharon School is a great place to learn. The nice teachers make it an awesome place. We are very busy because we have so many specials. They include computers, library, gym, art, music and Spanish. We get to see our friends during recess and lunch. You don't just learn new things during the day. There are also lots of fun after school activities. Out school is like a friend to the students. When I'm at Sharon School, I feel happy, smart and excited. We all liked using K'NEX to build a model of Sharon School. Working with K'NEX was new for some of us, but it was great to work together and to learn from each other. A lot of time and creativity went into this project, but the time flew by so quickly! It was a fun experience to build our school together. This was a really cool and challenging assignment. We were all excited and proud of ourselves when the school was done.
